Saunders Cervical Traction Instructional Video and User Guide

In this video created by DJO you will be walked through the user instructions for the Saunders Cervical Traction Device

Prepare the Saunders Cervical Traction Device for Treatment

The Saunders Cervical Traction device requires no assembly and can quickly be adjusted to suit your specific cervical traction needs in a matter of minutes. Using the levers on the side of the unit you can cycle through varying traction angles for treatment. Make sure to consult your physician or therapists for a recommendation of the proper traction angle required for your ailment. If you did not receive a recommendation make sure to leave the setting at the top 15 degree setting.

Next you will need to loosen the headstrap and neck wedges in preparation for entry. You will be able to adjust the headstrap an neck wedges after you are in place to ensure comfort. It is also important to set the hand pump to the "release" setting and allow the headrest to slide as far down the unit as possible. This will guarantee that you start treatment in the correct position. Once you have adjusted the headstrap and wedges you are ready to move on to the next step and apply traction.

Applying Cervical Traction

Now rotate the gauge on the hand pump to the "pump" position. Also, take a minute to note the time and refer to the treatment time recommended by your physician. Once you have secured the headstrap and neck wedges to your level of comfort you are ready to begin applying pressure via the hand pump. While observing the gauge, slowly begin applying pressure with the pump. Once you have reached your desired level of traction rotate the gauge back to the "Hold" position and relax. After a few deep breaths repeat the process again until you reach the recommended levels of treatment from your practitioner. It is very important that you do not exceed the level recommended by you healthcare provider. Traction should NEVER cause pain and you should stop immediately if you experience any discomfort.
