WEST Hand Monofilaments Weinstein Enhanced Sensory Test
The Weinstein Enhanced Sensory Test (WEST) hand monofilament set includes the following five monofilaments, which are intended to test tactile sensitivity in a subject's hands:
- 0.07 grams
- 0.2 grams
- 2 grams
- 4 grams
- 200 grams
The WEST hand monofilament test is an improvement over the Semmes-Weinstein monofilaments. It uses five monofilaments to measure skin sensitivity and determine peripheral nerve involvement. WEST monofilaments provide reliable test results using textured, round monofilament tips. The device is manufactured to be damage resistant so that it can be reused several times. Two or more filaments can be in position for testing.
The WEST test device is 6 inches by 3 inches when stored. This item includes a case, a form for recording test results, and a user manual.
WEST hand monofilaments are individually calibrated for applied grams.
